A tea processing unit opens for small growers in Kangra
Growers with less than two hectares can bring their leaf the same day it is picked.
A co-operative tea processing unit opened near Palampur on Thursday for growers with small holdings.
Until now small growers sold green leaf to the large estates at a price the estates set. The unit will buy leaf the day it is picked and pay within a week.
About 300 growers have signed up.
