Rohtang stayed shut to all traffic on Monday for a third day after another 20 cm of snow fell overnight above Marhi.

Road crews cleared the stretch up to Gulaba by noon but stopped short of the pass, where drifts had covered the road again by the afternoon.

Traffic to Lahaul is running through the Atal Tunnel, which stayed open. The police asked drivers to carry chains and to start back from Sissu before four.

The weather office expects a clear spell from Wednesday.
